I managed to work out a wine tasting and cheese event with the owners of Grapeseed Bistro of Bethesda. Grapeseed is the 51st ranked restaurant in the Washington Magazine Top 100 Restaurants and is known for it's high end Modern American cuisine. Great way to meet and befriend others at this event over wine

Their wine list includes some 500 selections! You'll find a myriad of international and domestic wines.

The Agenda:

  • We'll go through an educational wine tasting as our Sommelier will guide and educate us on each wine. He's very entertaining. The focus of this tasting will be on wines from California. These are generous 2.5 oz pours and not the itty bitty ones at the wineries :)
  • Each wine tasting will be accompanied by different types of cheese and at the end, we'll be given a choice to select what type of delicious appetizer to order from as well.

No cash or checks accepted.

Event starts at 5:15pm so show up at 5pm. This event is limited to 15 people because they are a pretty high end restaurant and are very busy in the evenings. Once the event is over, we can stay and dine together for those interested. Pay separately for that.

Transporation
Closest metro is Bethesda metro off the red line. It's a beautiful 10 minute walk to the restaurant as you go through the city of Bethesda and all its shops.

Dean, that was a fantastic event! The instructor was amazing, and the whole evening was great. Met some great people with diverse backgrounds (science, business, entertainment, etc). Glad I went. Thanks for organizing it.

If you take the red line there is a Bethesda Trolley every 15 min in the bus area. There are also cabs( if it is raining hard) right on Old Georgetown road up the escalator by the fountain.

The presentation was excellent. I learned a lot more about wines that I thought I would. The wines were tasty, information was fun and informative and the tables set for good socializing.

even though i organized this event, i was still amazed as to how good it was. like others said, it was very educational and the sommelier's approach made it fun for everyone.
    •  Great meeting everyone! Fun event and I thought the instructor was excellent. I loved his unconventional approach using food. I would definitely be interested in a follow-up class.

The event was great and the wine specialist was incredible. I worked in restaurants in the past and still learned many things. He sort of revealed the magic behind the experience of wine. I really was impressed. Every person I met was a great person. I sensed that everyone had just left work, people worked for companies where large layoffs were happening, I saw a stillness and everyone looked as though they had recently exerted maximum effort. These were solid hard-working, intelligent professionals who were open and all looking for the same social environment. By the end of the wine tasting everyone relaxed, had fun, and looked freer. It was what we needed. It delivered as promised.
    •  The general manager was great (very informative). Great wines, great group of attendees. Definitely will attend future tasting. Thanks Dean for coordinating it.
