Ok, time for a fall BBQ!!

I lurrrrrve BBQs. I also lurrrrrrve a crisp autumn day. So let's combine the two into one event!

I've reserved a large covered picnic pavilion for us right along the beautiful Potomac River. The area comes complete with a softball field, volleyball area, and horseshoe pits... so we'll have plenty of grounds to play on.

We'll have food. We'll have beer. We'll have sides. We'll have games. We'll meet new people, hang out with old... all while eating, drinking, and having fun!

Come join us and enjoy a final BBQ of the year (before the weather turns frigid)!

FOOD:

  • We'll have hamburgers
  • We'll have veggie burgers
  • We'll have hot dogs
  • We'll have chicken

DRINKS:

  • We'll have BEER
  • We'll have soda
  • We'll have water

SIDES:

  • We'll have dinner rolls
  • We'll have cookies
  • We'll have chips
  • We'll have pumpkin pie
  • We'll have coffeecake
  • We'll have pasta salad

GAMES:

  • We'll have a limbo contest
  • We'll have a 3 legged race
  • We'll have a sack race
  • We'll have a tug-of-war contest!

Bring a frisbee, bring some friends, and bring your fun and friendly self! Also, feel free to bring more food, or anything you'd like to grill!

We've got an early bird special for this event. From now until September 27th, the price is just $20, yup $20! After that, it will go up to $30. Secure your slot by rsvp'ing yes *and* making payment!

Come join us as we spend a fun and pleasant day with others while enjoying a final BBQ for the year!

I hope this helps with the directions: Take Beltway 495 to exit 41. From MD, there is only one ramp and it will put you westbound on the Clara Barton Parkway. From VA, take the left branch to get to the westbound lanes of the Clara Barton. Once on Parkway, take the 1st exit (Naval Surface Warfare Center), turn left at the top of the ramp and follow the road under the C&O canal. Parking is available to the right or left. http://www.caves.org/grotto...

I would like to car pool with someone; can anyone help, we can meet up at a metro station and go to the BBQ site from there, I'm willing to pitch in for gas. I'm pleading for someone to help me get to this event since I would really like to be there.

It's not metro accessible. I encourage carpooling where possible. Feel free to post here with carpooling offers. The pavilion is large enough to cover our entire crowd, so this event is rain or shine!

Questions...1) Metro access? Any way a ride could be arranged from a metro station? and 2) What happens if it rains?

    •  Loved it! Kelly and JT did a great job. Thanks to the volunteers that grilled up our food! Nice to be outdoors and be able to actually have conversations without having to yell. The field games were funny. The weather was perfect!
    •  The map was wrong, other than that it was fun.
    •  This was a lot of fun. I had a chance to meet new people, have good food, and play some games I haven't done in years!
    • 20s & 30s Rockstar
I had a great time. It was a bit late starting but it was hard getting in with the army ten miler being the same weekend! Great otherwise though!
    • 20s & 30s Organizer!
It was great meeting so many awesome people! Thanks again to all those who helped out and to Joanna for bringing apples to apples! I want a rematch for the tug of war!
    •  I had a good time and it was fun meeting new people at my first 20s and 30s meetup!

Great to meet some new people! Good times:)
    •  Great place, weather, events, food and people. Noticed a lot of first timers as I was one myself. Hope everybody will keep coming to the events so we can all meet again! Had a great time playing frisbee and probably have not done that since I was a kid! I think that room for improvement might consist of one or two items. 1) Some people in the group (like volunteers or regulars) who are great at talking to people, genuinely enjoy talking and, the people they do this with. Natural gabbers. This is so everyone gets talked to no matter what their ability with dealing with people happens to be. This is not to say that anyone got left out but, that it's nicest to talk to people who really enjoy talking and talking to you. Some people weren't really interested in talking. 2) A rain date in case the event got rained out. I'm only mentioning this because I did not see (an obvious) mention of this. I must admit that I did not really look for it. Overall good and thumbs up to organizers.
    •  It was fun. I think the games should have started before the food to help get people doing stuff sooner. It seemed a fun time was had by all.
